The Associated Press reported Aug. 1 that Minnesota's growing interest in local and sustainable foods has caused a group of organic farms to band together to form a trucking business to distribute their produce.

Jack Hedin, owner of Featherstone Farm, an organic farm in Rushford, Minn., started the trucking business out of necessity. He had many people requesting produce from his farm, but he couldn't get the produce to everyone fast enough and couldn't support the trucking costs with his farm's revenue. When he realized other farms had the same problem, he combined forces with them to fund a trucking business dedicated to delivering freshly-farmed produce to the metropolitan areas of Minnesota.
